Summer Camps

Summer day camp for young riders

Offered most weeks from June 6 – August 27, 2022

CAMP SCHEDULE:
5 days per week (Monday through Friday) from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

COST PER WEEK:
Weekly cost per camper: $475 (full payment is required to reserve your space/dates; payment can be made by check, Paypal, Venmo).
CAMPERS bring their own bag lunch daily, along with a refillable water bottle.

CAMPER ACTIVITIES
Campers ride twice daily, participate in horsemanship activities, as well as arts and crafts.

Each day will have a getting to know you game, riding lessons, craft, lunch, and afternoon group activities. If campers finish their craft early – they spend time with the mustang.

Additional activities include:

  • Horse board games (played in small groups)
  • How to handle a chicken
  • Goat care
  • Playing horseshoes
  • Game: I have a few questions

DAILY SCHEDULE

(daily schedule can vary depending on weather and size of our group)
If we have a bad weather day, we do indoor activities: watch informational video on horses, and arts & crafts.

MONDAY

  • We review Camp Rules and our goals
  • GAME: Animal name game
  • Whole group learning how to groom
  • Practice steering on the ground while other camper pretend to be horses
  • Riding activity- practice posting with hands on hips, head, airplane, behind back
  • Practice stopping/ walking on
  • Trot on 50 ft 3x each
  • Craft: friendship bracelets /beaded bracelet
  • Lunch discussion: color of horses
  • Ride piglet / Eyeore bareback
  • Lunge line jump rope
  • Worksheet

TUESDAY

  • GAME: Find someone who
  • Pretend to be a horse in the arena
  • Riding – practice skills learned yesterday, posting , stopping, trotting 50 ft
  • Steering on rail
  • Red light green light game
  • Craft: horse colors collage / build a horse out of craft materials
  • Lunch discussion: breeds
  • Pm ride 3 horses – play around the world
  • Capture the flag

WEDNESDAY

  • GAME: Never have I ever
  • Breed tag
  • Riding- walking over a Cavaletti
  • freeze dance
  • Trotting on a lunge line
  • Craft: horse shoes in yarn
  • Lunch discussion: markings
  • Hide and go seek
  • Learning how to lunge a horse
  • Bubble bath a horse

THURSDAY

  • GAME: If I was a pony
  • GAME: two truths one lie
  • GAME: potato sack races / relay race
  • riding- English ! Learn half seat do over a jump at the walk
  • Craft: horse poem & coloring page
  • Lunch discussion: types of competitions and riding
  • Trail ride around property

FRIDAY

  • GAME: Beachball getting to know you game
  • GAME: Scavenger hunt / hide and go seek
  • Riding contest- horse show! Grooming show win sticker
  • Review of skills for the week, Simon says
  • Craft: ornament, puppet etc
  • Lunch discussion: review of colors, breeds, markings and disciplines
  • Bareback ride
